It was clear to any hockey fan that watched the Gophers start the 2009-2010 season in Grand Forks North Dakota this weekend that the Gophers played way to soft. They appeared to have no interest going into the corners with the Sioux. They struggled to create scoring chances for most of the two game series and defensively they were over matched by the UND forwards. They were lucky to come out with 1 pt.
The Gophers played better Saturday, but their goalie was the only player who played a good game. Bad goal tending either night and things would have been very ugly. Uglier than they were on Friday. No doubt about that.
Why doesn’t Aaron Ness try to do more offensively. He is very good with the puck. Maybe better than anybody on the team. In high school(the WCHA is a long way from there) he was a man among boys. He should try to create more by driving to the net more often.
Is it not time for the NCAA to go with the shootout method the NHL has. Nobody wants to see a tie. I was much more disappointed in a tie than I would have a been if the Gophers had lost. I paid 200$ for my family to see the game. I want a real outcome.
They played this video before OT. The crowed loved it.
